Christian Days

The Lord’s Day: Jesus The Resurrected One is God, He is the Suffering Servant (Sunday)

We worship God on this day together remembering that Jesus was raised from the dead on the first day of the week as he prophesied.   We can study the meaning of who Jesus is and what he accomplished with his resurrection.  Historically, churches have used catechisms to do this focusing on Creeds such as the Apostles’ Creed and Nicene Creed.  Jesus as Savior is lifted up and how his salvation to sinner is offered.

1st Day after the Lord’s Day: God is Father (Monday)

2nd Day after the Lord’s Day: The Holy Spirit is God (Tuesday)

The role of prophecy we find revealed in the Bible as the giving of God’s truth to mankind from the Holy Spirit.  The call to study the Bible, the sacred scriptures is given as a means to know God and his son Jesus Christ inspired by the Holy Spirit.

1st Fast Day: Christ Jesus is our High Priest and Mediator (Wednesday)

Not only on fast days can we come to God the Father through Christ Jesus, the Son of God who now is at his right hand interceding for us with prayer as our high priest and mediator.

Day between Fast Days -Christ Jesus is the Preeminent Prophet (Thursday)

Jesus was the Prophet prophesied by Moses to come after him who would be greater that him.

2nd Day Fast Day: Jesus is Messiah/Christ: King of kings (Friday)

We worship Jesus as the King of kings.  He has dominion over all the affairs of our lives.  As we submit to his reign he calls us to serve in his Kingdom as salt preserving what is good on earth and Light bearing shining his love and truth into the darkness of this world.  His Holy Spirit enables us to respond to others with compassion and love even to the point of praying for our enemies.

Memorial Sabbath Day: Jehovah, Creator God is Holy and One; God is Love & Triune: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Saturday)

Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath so we rest in him not under the law from the Old Covenant by freely under the New Covenant.  We are to be prepared for his return at any time.  We need to be prepared and alert like a watchman on a wall.  This day can be spent as a day of preparation having our affairs in order and being ready for Jesus return.

This day we worship the God of creation.  Genesis 1 and 2 remind us of our creation, our role in it as caretakers called to have dominion over the animals, plants and the earth.  The role of good work is given here.  The institution of marriage is established within the family.  The call of science is established.  Given these areas of creation the role of seeking truth is found amidst the world’s different world views.

We remember God’s call to make disciples in the name to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  The call to evangelism and discipleship come from know God as Triune, Three persons in One, a mystery for the human mind to comprehend.  Just as the Triune God reveals the love of God between its members we are to love one god and one another.
